Often, when parents first inquire about a lifestyle newborn session with me, they mention their dogs and ask if they can be included. My response is always yes. These are actually the perfect sessions for it because we’re in their home, and in their comfort zone. I love meeting new dogs and also have a lot of fun including them throughout the gallery in creative ways.

It wasn’t until meeting them at her maternity session, that I asked what kind of dogs they had. And then I got REAL excited. They have three total, and two of them are goldens. Goldens! I truly love all dogs –we have two rescue mixed breeds and have fostered a few times before– but I just get so happy around a big, fluffy, goofy Golden! Like I seriously had to reel myself in and remind myself that I was there to celebrate a human baby! :D

Oliver was such a little sweetie and slept so well! Always the key to a great session.

And wow! That nursery was really special. I love how beautiful, colorful and yet classic it was. Stylistically it flowed with the rest of the home and made for a great backdrop for their photos.

After I knew I had a good variety of photos of just the three of them, and having given the pups a chance to get used to me, we invited them in to be intentionally in the photos. They got some true family portraits in of the whole family, and I got some of my favorite images ever out of it.

We ended the session focusing on Oliver in all his sweet new baby squishiness.
