One of my favorite parts of this job is when it introduces me to the sweetest people. Amy and Sibin were one of my many couples whose original wedding plans were altered because of the pandemic.
Amy is a frontline worker, and those first few months of the pandemic in particular were justifiably stressful and saddening as she juggled her high-stakes career and the health and safety of her beloved family and friends who wanted to celebrate her and Sibin.
Managing reschedules was undoubtably frustrating for all wedding vendors and engaged couples last spring, but my communications with this couple and their amazing wedding planner, Siji were all positive and understanding, despite heartache all around, I’m sure!
It just so happened that our initial booking happened before ever meeting face to face, and of course our rescheduling conversations had to take place over email and a video call, so when their June engagement session came around, it was the first time we were actually truly meeting each other. Upon first impression, I was blown away by how beautiful Amy is, and throughout the session, I loved how easily she and Sibin laughed together. They were both so warm. I felt like they trusted me. And the photos? Well, this next set is my favvvvvvooooorite.
After the session, Amy shared with me that her engagement session with me was one of the few times she felt like a real bride, and while I remain heartbroken for the circumstance, that statement was so reassuring. I’m grateful I could contribute to any joy in such a hard time. It’s such a reminder to appreciate what I do!
