Lifestyle Newborn Style Guide
I’ve gathered some of my favorite dresses that I’ve personally photographed for lifestyle newborn sessions, seen used for indoor sessions, or just meet my requirements for a comfortable but photogenic dress to new moms to wear for at-home sessions. Most are nursing friendly, some double as baby bump friendly, some have elastic waists, others leave extra room to breathe. All fit my recommendation of soft, muted colors.
LEFT: Maxwell’s Wild One Dress is nursing friendly with an adjustable tie-waist. I LOVE this one and am eager to photograph someone in it! It’s $70. RIGHT: Free People’s Embroidered Fable Midi Dress has an adjustable tie-waist. I’ve personally photographed it and it works like a dream. It’s $168.
LEFT: Matron Saint The Founder Dress is lightweight and stretchy and works for pregnancy and postpartum. It’s $72 and would photograph well in Sage or Dusty Rose. RIGHT: The Piper & Scoot Warba Swiss Dot Empire Dress is nursing friendly and has an elastic waist. The cream color photographs well. It’s $52.
LEFT: Wren & Ivory’s The Damara Faux Wrap in Kale (or Mauve) is baby bump and nursing friendly with a self-tie waist. It’s $48. It’s also available at Piper & Scoot for $66 and called The Parklan there. RIGHT: Wren & Ivory’s Isla Lace Dress is also baby bump and nursing friendly with fully functional buttons. I love that it’s in white. It’s $48.
LEFT: Maxwell’s Going Somewhere Special Dress in white is perfect for an at-home session. It’s not currently available online anymore but I’ll keep my eye out. RIGHT: Maxwell’s Cohen Dress nursing friendly with has buttons down the front and has a self-tie waist. It’s $50.
LEFT: Morning Lavender’s Bethany Grey Floral Maxi Dress has an elastic waist. It’s $69. RIGHT: Piper & Scoot’s Brynley Scalloped Bib Dress has a hidden wrap style nursing lining top and comes in Carolina Blue and Light Gray. It’s $52.
