I don’t know about y’all, but for me, once Christmas is over, I’m done with winter. If I could, I’d skip January-March to get to when life is green and florally again, prime for springtime weddings. I figure now’s as good a time as any to finally relive Jesse and Jazmin’s beautiful spring wedding at The Grand Ivory venue near McKinney. I hope what I’m about to say isn’t controversial. I love all of my clients and I in no way mean to hurt anyone’s feelings. But this wedding was my favorite of 2018.
The Grand Ivory is one of my new favorite Dallas wedding venues. For one, it’s off 75, my neck of the woods, so I don’t mind the drive out there. Two – (this one’s huge) the buildings on their property are picture-perfect and versatile. Both the bridal cottage and groom’s cottage are adorable, furnished nicely, have multiple windows (SO important), and the bridal one even has an oversized bench out front. So picture-worthy! There’s space for an outdoor ceremony and a semi-outdoor-but-covered ceremony, placed in front of a photogenic view and complete with white walls and floors to bounce all of that pretty light. The reception building has a covered patio for cocktail hour, which is ideal for when we only have time to photograph the reception space during cocktail hour – it ensures no purses, jackets or people roaming around in the background. And the reception space has tall ceilings, white walls and ceilings, light floors, which always = light and airy goals. If you want your wedding to feel dreamy and pretty, this is your venue. And I don’t care what anyone says, no, it’s not too much white. It’s perfect. And that’s what florals are for anyway. ;)
This particular wedding day started out cloudy and damp. I made the drive up with rain boots in my trunk, prepared to shoot in the mud and rain if I had to. But there was no need. Rain never fell, and, you know, even if it had, we had plenty of photogenic indoor space to work with.
I’m still in love with Jazmin and Jesse’s elegant invitation suite and wedding bands. A Mrs. Box and floral touch always makes my heart happy.
Some of my favorite bridal pumps ever!
Love this gorgeous portrait of Jesse that my second shooter took!
How cute are the bride’s nieces as flower girls?
I’m pretty obsessed with the view behind the open-air chapel at The Grand Ivory. It adds a pop of gorgeous color.
I haven’t even mentioned the antique doors to the open-air chapel! So beautiful, and the perfect shade of natural wood. Every style decision on this property is perfect to me. I’m also a die-hard Joanna Gaines fan, and I think she’d approve.
