Karen and Brooks came to me as a referral from another photographer, Karen’s cousin Viki Sears, who couldn’t photograph the wedding herself because she was going to be a bridesmaid! Viki connected us and told me that Karen liked the other beach wedding photos on my website and the fact that I had photos of dogs, because she and Brooks are total dog people. Well we have that in common. When Karen and I started talking wedding plans, I was so excited to hear that they’d be including their two dogs in their wedding. If I had the luxury of making it a requirement, I’d have all of my couples include their dogs in their wedding day! For one, it’s adorable, and two, being around dogs just makes me happy! Her pups were the sweetest too. Don’t worry, there’s tons of pictures of them below.
I’ll start by talking about how amazing their venue is. They rented out a massive three-story beach house in Destin for the wedding. It had lots of windows, so it provided great natural light (my favorite!) and it had tall ceilings on all floors with white paint so it made for pretty much my favorite getting-ready space ever.
Karen’s flower girl was too cute and so photogenic. The dogs were so well trained! They just hung out at the house, sometimes hanging out with Karen, other times with Brooks and the guys.
The beach was directly in their backyard. We just had to walk down the steps to get our feet in the sand. I can’t get over how gorgeous this beach house is.
Any time the pups weren’t in the photos, they sat and kept watch nearby. It was very sweet.
This dress though! Karen was such a stunning bride and pulled off that backless dress like a pro. It was a warm, sunshiny day, and the clouds went back and forth on giving us some shade. Luckily, toward the end of bride and groom portraits, we got a pretty pastel sky to go along with the powdery white sand and blue water. It was heavenly.
I love this photo so much!
This was my fourth time on the Florida Emerald Coast, third time to shoot a wedding there and I’ll never stop being impressed with the clean, soft white sand and the clear blue water from the Gulf.
Karen and Brooks, thank you so much for having me fly out and join you for your beautiful Florida beach wedding!
